What is the difference between the Standard AA Pitch Trap/Skeet Target and the Pitch Pheasant Target?
For the most part, they are identical at 108mm. The main difference is that the Pheasant weighs a few more grams and is built to be thrown further and faster than the Standard AA. Hence, we recommend the Pheasant for all Sporting Clays applications.
In terms of breakability, some shooters claim that the Standard AA’s “smoke” and break better than the Pheasants.
I’ve noticed three or four small notches near the lip of the target where it is thrown from. What are these for?
The main purpose of these small notches is to keep the targets from sticking together due to moisture, etc. As the targets sit on top of each other, these notches allow for air circulation to prevent sticking.
Some White Flyer Targets have a "slot top" design while others have "golf ball style dimples". Why is this?
All Standard Pitch AA’s produced at our Central and Eastern Target Plants utilize the “golf ball dimple” design. All targets produced out of our Western US Plant have a “slotted” design. Why? Simply put, when we purchased the Western Plant it utilized the old Eclipse Target Company mold, and to the present we’ve continued that design. If you look at the White Flyer BLACKOUT targets, you will notice that we have incorporated this “slotted” design for their manufacture exclusively.
Are the weights of all White Flyer Targets monitored during their manufacture to ensure uniformity?
White Flyer puts each target through a 27 Step Quality Procedure to ensure that each and every target is uniform and within weight specifications as issued by that sport’s governing bodies. No other manufacturer of clay targets is as demanding and complete in this aspect of target manufacturing.
Do you do any preliminary testing of your targets before sending them out to the distributors and gun clubs?
Absolutely! For every lot number produced (the numbers on the side of the box), several cases are trapped using a variety of different clay target machines to ensure that these targets meet our exacting standards.
We know that you recommend that clubs using White Flyer BLACKOUT targets utilize Agricultural Limestone in those concentrated areas. How much is recommended?
We do recommend that clubs throwing White Flyer BLACKOUT targets in concentrated areas spread agricultural limestone in those areas. We suggest an application rate of 4 tons per acre. This sounds like a large amount, but the areas are generally small. It is a good idea to make the first application before you start throwing targets to give the limestone time to react.
Will White Flyer Targets provide me with an MSDS sheet on it’s products?
Per applicable federal regulations, White Flyer Targets, LLC does not produce Material Safety Data Sheets for White Flyer products.
The following is an excerpt of the regulations:
White Flyer Targets are considered finished articles by definition in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 29.
It is important to understand that a Material Safety Data Sheet is required for all chemicals – solid, liquid or gas. MSDS’s are not required for finished articles. The Federal document which contains the regulations on Material Safety Data Sheets is 29 CFR 1910.1200. In Section B, it states that articles are not required to have an MSDS. Finished Articles are not regulated under the federal hazard communication standard as detailed in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 29, Chapter 1910.100, Section B, Part 6, Subsection (v). The definition of an “Article” is stated in the regulation as follows:
“Article” means a manufactured item other than a fluid or article:
(i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture;
(ii) which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during normal end use; and
(iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g. minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical (as determined under paragraph (d) of this section), and does not pose a physical or health risk to employees.

Our club received a truckload of White Flyer Targets last week. When we put the target cases in the houses and began to throw the targets, our breakage went from 0% to 10%. How should we handle this?
Obviously, there is something not right that saw your breakage skyrocket from 0% to 10%. First off, call your White Flyer Sales Rep for your area immediately. Explain who you are, the gun club you represent, who your WF Distributor is, type of targets/ color that you use and what sort of equipment you throw targets with. Additionally, provide them with the lot number of the case and the case code numbers of the cases in which the targets came out of. Once our Sales Rep has the info, he will contact the specific Target Plant and check when these targets were made and if there were any unusual conditions present then. Once the Sales Rep has received the pertinent info back from the Target Plant they will contact you and discuss the issues an as well as what might be done to correct the problem. The key issue here is that if you have any problems with our WF Targets, we need to be made aware of them immediately!
